The EBSOMED Final Workshop Capacity Building – New challenges for BSOs from the Euromed Cooperation will be held in Cagliari at the former Tobacco Manufactory.  Closed in 2001, today its spaces are provided for the organization of non-profit cultural, artistic, scientific, entrepreneurial, recreational and volunteer initiatives. Cagliari is the most important city of Sardinia, the second largest island in the Mediterranean Sea, with a metropolitan area of about half a million inhabitants.

Furthermore, Cagliari is the headquarters of the Management Authority of INTERREG NEXT MED 2021-2027 Program, the main financing instruments of the European Union for cooperation projects in the Mediterranean area.

The capital of the island has a soul consisting of a millenary history, culture, nature, beach tourism and nightlife, an attractive mix that fascinates the visitor, charmed by the views of Castello, the ramparts and the Roman remains, the Sardinian sea, as well as by the dynamism of a surprisingly lively city. WHERE TO SLEEP 

The Euro-Mediterranean Summer School recommends the Hotel Regina Margherita.

It is from here that the trains depart to take you to destinations throughout Sardinia. The same goes for the buses, which can take your on sunny summer days along the Poetto seafront towards the wonderful beaches of the neighbouring coastal resorts of Chia and Villasimius.

HOW TO GET THERE

 The Workshop venue address is in Viale Regina Margherita, 33 Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy 

 The nearest airport is Cagliari Elmas, 8 km away (15 minutes by car) from the city centre.

– Directions from the Cagliari airport to Matteotti Station, Cagliari:

By public transport: the train station at the airport is just 5 minutes’ walk from the air terminal. The rail service starts at about 5AM and ends after 9PM with 20 mins. average frequency. The journey to and from Cagliari takes 5-7 mins, a single fare is 1.30 euro.

Tickets are sold by Trenitalia at the vending machines (located in Arrivals and at the train station), online, and by authorized dealers. For the train timetable please check out Cagliari airport website.

By taxi: you can reach the venue by taxi. A standard journey during daytime costs approximately between 15 and 20 euros.

Take the Road 127 bis as far as Sassari and continue driving along Road 131 to Cagliari. Follow E25 to Via Edward Jenner in Cagliari. Take the Via dei Valenzani exit from Asse Mediano di Scorrimento. Take Via Diego Cadello, Viale S. Vincenzo and Viale Regina Elena to Viale Regina Margherita. The whole journey from Alghero takes about 2 h 38 min (241 km).
